The sports landscape in Los Angeles is somewhat unusual. Here is one of the biggest cities in the country, with two pro teams in every major sport… with the notable exception of NFL Football! That is, until the L.A. Rams announced their return for the 2016 season after many years in St. Louis.
Baseball: Dodgers and Angels. Basketball: Lakers and Clippers. Hockey: Kings and Ducks. There are even two pro soccer teams, the Galaxy and, starting in 2018, Los Angeles Football Club. So with the Rams back on the gridiron, L.A. once again offers a complete roster of live professional sports.
Of course, there is also plenty of college athletics to follow, primarily at Division I schools UCLA and USC.
And all of these teams’ games… as well as plenty of discussion about players, coaches, strategies and results… can be heard on the RADIO. That makes sports talk radio advertising one of the best ways to advertise to Men in Southern California.
KSPN LA 710 AM is an ESPN affiliate. They carry Lakers games, and will broadcast Rams games (which will also be heard on KSWD-FM) in the Fall of 2016. Some of the games of baseball’s Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are heard on KSPN, while all of them air on their flagship station KLAA (830 AM). KSPN 710 also airs USC Trojans football and basketball.
Close behind KSPN in the ratings race is KLAC at 570 AM, which offers Dodgers baseball and, beginning with the 2016-17 season, Clippers basketball. KLAC also carries the football and basketball games of the market’s other major university, the UCLA Bruins.
And of course, there’s Beast 980 advertising that offers sports-talk 24/7, and is know as the home of Clippers Basketball.
In addition to Angels baseball, KLAA at 830 AM carries coverage of the Anaheim Ducks hockey franchise.
And rounding out the Sports Talk Radio lineup in Los Angeles is KWKW 1330 AM, the Spanish language affiliate of ESPN (aka ESPN Deportes). KWKW airs the play-by-play in Spanish for Angels baseball, Lakers basketball, Kings hockey, and Galaxy soccer.
